ACHRS Publishes the Human Rights Monitor for December 2024

This Human Rights Monitor provides a comprehensive review of key human rights developments across the Arab world for the month of December. The report focuses on priority areas, analyzing the impact of recent events through the lens of international human rights law. The right to life remains a critical concern, with violations manifested in extrajudicial killings, executions, and the weaponization of starvation, particularly in Gaza. Additionally, the report explores developments in women’s rights, highlighting legal changes and their effects on women’s lives in Iraq, with reference to international standards and conventions.

The Monitor also addresses the right to social protection, which is another key area, examining government policies aimed at improving socioeconomic conditions, including access to healthcare and education.
