This week, the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS) is represented at the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council by Victoria Rebok, Co-Coordinator of the International Relations Unit.
In addition to attending the main debates– including the Interactive Dialogue (ID) on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances and the Interactive Dialogue (ID) on Women and Children in Conflict and post-Conflict Situations– Victoria also participated in a number of side events. These include: the High-Level Side Event to Discuss Egypt’s Second National Human Rights Strategy, organised by DIGNITY, the Committee for Justice, and the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF), the Side Event on Freedom of Religion or Belief in Egypt, organised by the Baha’i International Community, Amnesty International, and the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights; and the Side Event on Kuwait –70K Stripped of Citizenship: Recent Documentation and Responses, organised by the Gulf Centre for Human Rights, Salam, MENA Rights Group, and Amnesty International.
Victoria also attended the meeting between NGOs and the Human Rights Council President, Ambassador Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro of Indonesia.
ACHRS will continue its work in Geneva, with Victoria expected to give two oral statements in the coming days. Filipe Dias Kalgaard, Coordinator of the International Relations Unit, and Romina M. Iramloo will represent ACHRS in the events concerning Items 7 and 9 later this month.
