International Day in Support of Victims of Torture

ACHRS stands in solidarity with all victims of torture past and present. Although a crime under international law, torture has been reported in at least 141 countries- three quarters of the world. 

We call on the global community to ensure this violent and heinous act of punishment is prohibited and those who carry out the crime are condemned and held accountable.  Additionally, appropriate support systems must be put in place to support survivors and their families. We urge Sudan and Oman, to sign the International Convention against Torture and to join the other 20 Arab countries that did so.
