The conclusion of the second phase Women’s leadership program in Libya

The second stage of women’s leadership program which was organized by the Foundation for the Future (FFF) and the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS) was concluded in Tripoli the capital of Libya.
The course, which involved 18 Libyan participants and lasted for four days (6-9/10/2013), included training on the: Women’s issues and political participation, Women’s rights in the Constitution, Legal and policy framework to strengthen their partnership, Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), National laws on women (the Personal Status Law, Social Security, Labor Law), Labor Organization (ILO) conventions on women, Women and party work, Women and trade union action, Challenges and obstacles to women’s political participation, Gender in Arab culture, And women’s issues from a gender perspective, Feminist thought, (Concepts, evolution, causes of feminist theory, Its impact on the political outlook on the role of women), The role of the women’s movement through history, Ways to change and actors and tools, Obstacles to women’s access to parliament, Mechanisms to develop a relationship with the grassroots , Cultural framework to strengthen the participation of women in civil society.
The Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS) carried out since 2010 the Jordanian Institute program of women leaders, which leaded 33 participants from various governorates in graduating and made possible for 12 women the participation in a new programme on the same topic that will be developed in October with a duration of 1 year.
