Achrs organized Workshop for the trainers of the ministry of health by the title of human rights and gender from 12 – 16 of Dec, 2010
The audience was actively engaged with the lecturer emphasizing and declaring the most important role of the human rights as the basic pillar to establish any developed and sophisticated society in the world.
The second lecture was on the international declaration of the human rights by lawyer Nael Alfarha who presented the thirty main articles of the declaration and discussed with the audience the crucial role of every single topic in creating the modern societies for people on solid ground of understanding the civil, cultural, political and others fundamentals right for all human being regardless of their ethnicity, gender, religion or any other remarks that could use as discrimination tools. Moreover, many points were focused on the important of rising awareness and educating the average person of his/ her rights as free human being and what kind of positive influence it can give for humanity.
The main international agreements of the human rights was the third and concluded lecture of the first day by Dr. Mohammad Albataina where he demonstrated that one of the most noble and new measures of all, is the degree of countries in applying and respecting the human rights concepts. Dr Albataina talked about Jordan as one of the most respected and recognized countries of the world that has signed and declared many human rights agreements especially those concerning the right to receive appropriate health care services not only for its people but also for any one that reside in Jordan.
The second day started with lawyer Manar Alnizami on The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The lecturer focused on the important of this agreement on saving of the many women rights and fighting the oppression on the women worldwide. The agreement was signed by 183 countries including the Arab world that has some critics and notes around some of the articles of the agreement. (CEDAW) has 30 articles and preamble.
The discussion then went over the parts and articles of the agreements and explaining all the articles including those which been remarked by some Arab countries and the reasons behind these critics and notes. The lecture was wrapped up by actively engaging the audience with some exercise aiming to deeply and fundamentally understanding the rights of women and the ways of how to achieve this goal in order to give more fair and prosperous life for the women around the world.
The second lecture of the day was by the lawyer Samih Sonokrot who talked about the right of health care as one crucial and ultimate right for human being. Moreover, the speaker talked about the means and instruments used to achieve that, and the international measurements tools used on order to determine the level of different countries on the progression scale of this right. The speaker also expanded more thoughts on the article 25 from the international convention of the civil and political rights, and the establishment of the world health organization as an umbrella to control and record any violations of the issue.
The day was finished by the lawyer Majd Klob lecture about the type of violence and the medical services. The focused was on the important of working with the law makers to enforce roles and legislation aiming to protect medical doctors and crews against any violations toward theme in order to offer safe and healthy environment to practice their field of expertise.
The third day started with the title of fertility health and human right by Mahmud Heshmeh, where the main international agreements presented in the issue, especially those singed by Jordan. The lecturer also mentioned the main material concerning this right in both the international declaration of human rights like the articles 3, 16, and 25, and the International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights articles 15, 23. And the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights articles 11, 16, and 24, In addition to CEDAW agreement.
Following were the second and third titles, by Ruba Hussain on the meaning of gender and by Lena Aljazi on the gender and the effects of social culture, where the speakers discussed with the audience the meaning and differences between sex and gender and those economical, social, political and civil factors that have effects on the issue.
The fourth day was full of presenting the issue of gender. Eman Ziad talked about gender and its integration in society. The audience was very interested and expanded through wide notes and detailed feedback.
Through the meeting the speaker rised different directions on the gender issue, such as, the important of planning for the gender, engagement tools within the governmental and not governmental institutions, and the policy and factors for the planning of gender. In additions to that many studies cases and activities were put to discussion through dividing the audience to small study groups.
Lena Aljazrawi talked about the neutral factor when dealing with gender for the health care personal when they dealing with victims of violence. Amal Shawahdeh then gave her title in integration of the gender in the development programs. Ferial Alasaf finished the fifth and last day of the meeting in evaluation the work based on gender.
