In the previous episode, our guests discussed women’s education in the country. Although Jordan has one of the highest female literacy rates and female enrollment in universities, what is really striking is the low participation of women in the workforce.
Why are there so few women working? Where does this come from and how can this challenge be addressed?
With our guests, Nicolas Burniat – UN Women representative in Jordan -, Rana Husseini – human rights activist and senior reporter at the Jordan Times – and Zena Najjar – student at the University of Jordan – we go in depth into the laws and norms that prevent women from enjoying their rights. Happy listening!
