ACHRS Statement on Saudi Arabia’s Increase in Executions in 2021

Saudi Arabia scaled back on executions, torture, unfair trials, and repression during their G20 presidency. However, the human rights reform did not last, and Saudi Arabia has already executed 40 prisoners this year, surpassing 2020’s total number of executions. Authorities have also increased crackdowns on dissidents, activists, and human rights defenders.
