Civil Society Organizations’ Memorandum for the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the right to elections in Jerusalem

A delegation representing Palestinian human rights institutions and civil society delivered a memorandum signed by 251 networks, coalitions and organizations from 17 Arab countries, comprising 999 civil society and civil society organizations, to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The delegation included Dr. Nayef Jarad, Director General of the Palestine Institute for National Security Research, Dr. Omar Rahal, Director General of the Center for Human Rights and Democracy Information / Shams, Issam Arouri, Director of the Jerusalem Center for Legal Aid and Human Rights, and Khaled Nassif, Director General of the Ramallah Center for Human Rights Studies and Islam Al-Tamimi, representing the Independent Commission for Human Rights. And Professor Barakat Falah, Director of Public Relations at the Palestine Institute.
Dr. Nayef Jarad, Director General of the Palestine Institute for National Security Research, stated that this memorandum came at the initiative of the Institute and in coordination and partnership with the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies, human rights organizations and Palestinian and Arab feminist organizations, praising the volume of turnout for signing the memorandum, which indicates and confirms the commitment of community institutions. Civilian human rights and its clear support for the Palestinian position in holding elections, as it is a human right that must be respected and abided by.
