Second Conference of Elections Network in the Arab world Widens the circle of its work, renews its leadership and develops its structure and mechanisms of action

Elections Network in the Arab world held its second conference in Amman on the sidelines of the monitoring network of the Jordanian parliamentary elections which took place on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013, and was attended by 30 members from various Arab countries.
After the opening speech and within the framework of the statute and action plan of the Network two evaluation papers were presented in the field of development of the Network structure and plans activation, and they were discussed by the attendants. In light of the objectives of the Network, the Network’s strategic plan for the years 2013 – 2016 was approved.
Performance (activities) and fiscal reports for the period between 2006 and 2012 were discussion in the second session of the conference.
The conference also adopted a resolution to expand the work of the Network services to include monitoring the electoral process and parliamentary performance in accordance with international standards. The conference also expressed thanks and gratitude for the efforts of all the former members of the board of directors.
At the closing session the conferees elected Dr. Violet Dagher chairperson of the Network, Dr. Nidham Assaf executive director, and sixteen members of the Board of Directors, representing the sixteen Arab countries members of the network, and they are: Dr. Hassan Abdul Atti (Sudan), Mr. Abdul Nabi Al-Akri (Bahrain), Dr. Hassan Obeiana (Morocco), lawyer Hooger Sheikha (Iraq), lawyer Ayman Aqeel (Egypt), lawyer Ali Al-Daylami (Yemen), Dr. Omar Rahal (Palestine), lawyer Rula Abu shabaka (Lebanon), Mr . Daniel Saud (Syria), Mr. Badr Al-Mutairi (Kuwait), Mr. Noureddine Ben Brahem (Algeria), Mr. Khaled Alcadekke (Libya), Mr. Inas al-Yacoubi (Tunisia), Dr. Amer Bani Amer (Jordan), Ms. Assmaa Aboudi (Saudi Arabia), and Al-Hassan Mahmoud (Mauritania).
At the first meeting of the board of directors of the network (7) membership were elected, in addition to the Chairperson and Executive Director, lawyer Hooger Sheikha, lawyer Ayman Aqeel, lawyer Ali Al-Daylami, Dr. Hassan Obeiana, and Dr. Amer Bani Amer.
