Arab civil society organizations (69 Networks and organizations) signed below welcome the continuing of the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt to realize significant achievements on the road to complete overthrow of the police system in Tunisia as a symbol of the Arab police system, and Egyptian political system as a symbol of the Arab official political system, and they also appreciate the all the steps taken to pre-empt continuous attempts to abort the revolution in Egypt and of creating sectarian strife.
The organizations express grave concern about the insistence of the Libyan regime on the use of heavy weapons, including warplanes, warships and tanks in the besieged and storming of cities, and demand the Arab League, the African Union, and the United Nations to imposed an air siege for the protection of the Libyan people from genocide, which manifested itself as a clear objective in the speeches of Gaddafi, the Father and the Son, and the practices of military battalions loyal to him.
The undersigned civil society organizations in the Arab world condemn the announcement of the Saudi government to impose a ban on protests and marches that the opposition intends to organize to demand democracy and human rights. It also expresses its deep concern at the announcement by the Ministry of Interior Saudi security forces to used any “action” and means to suppress any demonstrations calling for political reforms, and calls for the release of prisoners of conscience detained for long periods without trial, where the marches that took place in the eastern region witnessed various forms of repression and the practice of degrading human dignity.
The undersigned organizations salutes the peaceful struggle of civil society organizations in Saudi Arabia against the policies of marginalization and oppression, they also declare their unlimited solidarity with their legitimate demands for radical reform to achieve the transition to democracy and the establishment of the state of citizenship and equality, and also condemns the discriminatory practice of the Saudi regime between the components of people in jobs and privileges.
The signatories call upon the international community and human rights organizations to support the demands of Saudi citizens and to condemn all restrictions and repressive measures used against advocates of freedom and democracy in the country.
The undersigned organizations applaud the peaceful protests in Bahrain, and warns of the danger of government calls launched for the formation of loyal militias and encourage the exercise of violence to suppress the protests and sit-ins demanding change and reform, as happened in Riffaa on Friday, March 11th, and express support to the protesters carrying slogans about national unity and brotherhood among the components of the people of Bahrain.
The organizations strongly condemn the storming Yemeni security forces for the square of the change (Tagheer) in Sana’a at dawn today and the use of live bullets and gas against the protestors, which claimed the lives of a number and dozens injured by gas suffocation, which is a repetition of techniques failed in the revolutions of the two peoples, Tunisian and Egyptian.
All of these practices represent desperate attempts made by dictatorship systems to contain the phenomenon of popular protests that have spread in many Arab countries against tyranny and corruption and to demand freedom and democracy.
The signatory organizations reiterate the need for response of these governments to legitimate demands of their peoples, which are their inherent rights, and stresses the need to avoid the bloodshed of the citizens regardless of their religion and / or race and / or their beliefs and / or political opinion and / or their social status and / or color in our Arab countries.
