HUMAN RIGHTS MONITOR DECEMBER 2025

At the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies, our monthly human rights monitor aims to review the most recent human rights developments among our seven priorities. We provide a fact-based review on how ongoing human rights developments are affecting the MENA region. Our reports seek to amplify voices of the voiceless, demand for action and document the struggle of our time.

This month’s Human Rights Monitor focuses on, inter alia:

Saudi Arabia reaching a new record number of executions last year and “Israel” proposing a new death penalty legislation specifically targeting Palestinian prisoners.

The repression of Gen Z protests in Morocco demanding political participation, social services, and accountability Iraq’s allocation of land to Yazidi women survivors under the Yazidi Suvivors

Law, and the continued marginalization of women in political and electoral processes.

The gendered impacts of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Morocco’s continued reforms of its social protection system, focusing on direct cash support, data-based targeting of beneficiaries, and long-term financial sustainability.

Qatar’s implementation of a new disability law and related awareness-raising and training initiatives.

Jordan’s National Youth Survey to identify youth priorities and discussions on youth participation, health, and education.
