76 Networks and civil society organizations from 13 Arab countries express their Solidarity with Kamal Jendoubi

The undersigned organizations express their solidarity with the human rights activist Kamal Jendoubi, who has for long been exposed to a campaign designed to discredit the work he has done at the head of the Independent High Authority for the elections.

Kamal Jendoubi succeeded as a man leading the electoral process, together with his colleagues, in the Independent High Authority for elections to get approval from monitors of the Tunisian elections in October 2011 as being free and fair election.

The undersigned organizations witness also that the efforts made by Kamal Jendoubi over the past twenty years in order to break the siege imposed, not only on the activity of opposition by the regime of Ben Ali, whether they are politicians or activists in the areas of civil society, but, also, on the activity of human right activists in various Arab countries.

We assure that the distortion campaign will not scratch the fact that Kamal Jendoubi is independent in his decisions, free in his statements and views, and he gained confidence and stature that made his reputation extend beyond the borders of the country.

So we, the undersigned, emphasize:

– Full solidarity with the human rights activist Kamal Jendoubi and his colleagues in the Independent High Authority for the elections.

– condemning the unjust campaign that will not deter him to continue the struggle, and will not hush his voice.

As we appeal to the President of the Republic and President of the National Constituent Assembly, who expressed, more than once, their absolute confidence in the Independent High Commission for Elections and the president as a person, in order to prevent this unjust campaign on Mr. Kamal Jendoubi and his colleagues to achieve its goals and objectives.
