Human Rights Monitor | June 2025 Edition

The Human Rights Monitor for June 2025 has been released by the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies, presenting documented facts from across the Arab region. This issue tracks six core priorities: the right to life, freedom of thought, freedom of expression, political participation, social protection, and women’s rights.
Highlights from this edition:
-
Sharp increase in executions in Iran and Saudi Arabia, targeting minorities, activists, and foreign nationals
-
Continued extrajudicial killings in Sudan, Syria, and Palestine, including attacks on hospitals, aid convoys, and food distribution sites
-
Arrest of students and professors in Yemen and Egypt for using satellite internet or showing support for Palestine
-
Silencing of expression through the execution of Saudi journalist Turki al-Jasser, enforced disappearance of Egyptian poet al-Qaradawi in the UAE, and mass arrests during peaceful Gaza marches in Egypt
-
Repression of civic space in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, including manipulated elections, blocked humanitarian missions, and exclusion of minority voices
-
Deterioration of social protection in Gaza and Syria, with aid cutbacks, famine, and failing healthcare systems pushing civilians further into crisis
This issue reflects the growing risks for activists, journalists, and civilians across the region. ACHRS will continue to expose violations, demand accountability, and support those defending human dignity.
