Amal Shamoun Represents Jordan at International Youth-Led Environment Summit

Amal Shamoun, the Communications and Social Media Coordinator and Disability Unit Coordinator, took part as a speaker in the international event “Voices for Earth: Youth-Led Advocacy to End Plastic Pollution,” held today, June 5, 2025, to celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay.
The event was organized by Ariel Foundation International (with United Nations ECOSOC consultative status) in collaboration with international partners.
In her speech, Shamoun talked about the environmental issues facing Jordan, especially the serious problem of plastic pollution and its impact on health and local ecosystems. She highlighted the work of environmental leaders in Wadi Al-Shita and the push for plastic-free campuses led by young people.
She stressed the need to include environmental education in schools, along with raising public awareness and enforcing stronger laws to protect the environment. Shamoun believes young people play a crucial role in making a difference through community projects and civic engagement.
