On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the seventh training session for participants of the ninth cohort of the Youth Leadership Program, organized by the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies, concluded. This training focused on the topic of “Leadership and Decision-Making,” and was led by Dr. Adnan Mahmoud Al-Toubasi, Associate Professor of Psychology and Psychological Counseling and President of the Cultural Association for Youth and Childhood. Dr. Al-Toubasi explained that decision-making is a crucial process in the lives of individuals and groups, and that it is a mental process aimed at selecting the best alternatives to achieve desired goals.<\/p>\n
Dr. Al-Toubasi further explained that the steps that contribute to making sound life decisions include, most notably, diagnosing the problem, gathering information, conducting objective scientific analysis, developing appropriate alternatives, selecting the most suitable alternative, ensuring fairness and equity, implementing the decision with flexibility, and then evaluating it.<\/p>\n
Dr. Al-Toubasi pointed out that several factors influence decision-making, including personal, social, economic, and timing factors, among others. He also noted that some mistakes can affect decision-making, such as hesitation, procrastination, inaccurate information, and failure to define the problem. He urged the participants in this course to think carefully before making any decision. During the training, participants were divided into working groups that discussed and analyzed various issues and situations related to decision-making.<\/p>\n
