As part of its ongoing series of activities, the Justice and Rule of Law Unit at the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS) organized a specialized training course entitled Cybersecurity and Human Rights<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In line with its mission to raise public awareness of the vital intersection between modern technology and fundamental rights, the program was held over two consecutive days, Saturday and Sunday, April 18\u201319, 2026, comprising six intensive training hours. The sessions were delivered by trainee lawyer Yasmin Shammout<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nizam Assaf<\/strong>, Director of the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies<\/strong>, emphasized the importance of integrating a human rights perspective into discussions on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, noting their profound impact on the present and future of societies. Attorney Obada Alwardat<\/strong>, Coordinator of the Justice and Rule of Law Unit<\/strong>, also addressed participants, introducing the Unit and outlining its seven core objectives: ensuring access to justice, strengthening judicial independence, supporting restorative justice, promoting accountability and combating corruption, empowering youth and building capacities, enhancing human rights protection, and producing research and policy papers.<\/p>\n

The program witnessed active engagement from participants, who demonstrated strong abilities to connect human rights principles with technical issues related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Their contributions reflected a growing awareness among youth and human rights advocates of the need to confront digital challenges through a rights-based approach\u2014an approach that fosters safer, fairer, and more inclusive digital environments.<\/p>\n

This training thus represented a distinctive milestone within the activities of the Justice and Rule of Law Unit, sending a clear message on the necessity of investing in knowledge and skills that enable individuals and institutions to address emerging issues in a rapidly changing world, while upholding universal human values and fundamental rights as indispensable guiding principles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
