The ongoing conflict in Gaza has led to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/7\/24\/death-toll-from-starvation-in-gaza-rises-to-115-as-israeli-attacks-continue\"><b> 127 Palestinian fatalities<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from hunger with most victims being children, while severe malnutrition rates keep increasing rapidly throughout the Strip.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The fatalities occurred due to a planned set of circumstances. They are the result of a systematic policy of blockade. Food, water, fuel, and medicine are deliberately restricted. Hospitals have collapsed. Water pumps no longer function. Humanitarian aid is blocked at crossings, while warehouses filled with supplies remain inaccessible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)\u00a0 which began operations in May 2025 to coordinate aid has failed to meet the basic humanitarian standards.\u00a0 <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ochaopt.org\/content\/humanitarian-situation-update-306-gaza-strip\">More than 1,054 Palestinians<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lost their lives during aid distribution operations according to official reports while they\u00a0 tried to obtain food for their household members. <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/ohchr-palestinians-in-gaza-continue-to-be-killed-by-starvation-or-by-bullets-from-the-israeli-military-while-trying-to-access-food\/\">The United Nations<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> together with many humanitarian groups have condemned the\u00a0 GHF because it operates without neutrality and shows poor performance while allowing civilian deaths to happen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icj-cij.org\/case\/192\/provisional-measures\">International law<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong> explicitly forbids using starvation as a method of warfare. The Genocide Convention requires states to stop such\u00a0 crimes from happening while also taking steps to prevent them. The International Court of Justice (ICJ)\u00a0 has issued binding provisional measures requiring Israel to allow humanitarian access \u201cat scale.\u201d These legal obligations have\u00a0 not been met.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">States which offer Israel support through military, financial or diplomatic means bear legal and moral\u00a0 responsibility for the suffering experienced by Gaza according to ACHRS. When states remain silent and take\u00a0 no action against mass starvation they become complicit in its occurrence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The ACHRS demands:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">All\u00a0 areas of Gaza require immediate and unrestricted humanitarian access.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The GHF must dissolve while aid coordination should return\u00a0 to neutral UN agencies including UNRWA and UN-led operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The ICJ\u2019s provisional measures\u00a0 require complete implementation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">A neutral international body must conduct investigations regarding the use of starvation as a weapon\u00a0 of war.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Legal action must be taken against all individuals and states who participate in these acts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Starvation\u00a0 deaths are happening right now. This crisis exposes the fragility of international justice.
