Our intern, Yasmine Sami, traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to represent the Center at the 56th session of the Human Rights Council.<\/p>\n
This session was marked by Jordan\u2019s 4th Cycle of its Universal Periodic Review.<\/p>\n
Under the name of ACHRS, Yasmine had the opportunity to give a 2 minutes speech to the attention of the Jordanian ambassador to the UN.<\/p>\n
She was keen to emphasize several points relating to the human rights situation in Jordan, including :
\n– Freedom of expression and the repression of demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine,
\n– Press rights and the unlawful detention of journalists,
\n– Academic freedom and the right to join a union as an academic,
\n– Participation and more particularly the participation of women in the public sphere.<\/p>\n
Yasmine also attended Saudi Arabia\u2019s UPR as well as several other countries\u2019 review.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
