107 Civil Society Networks and Organizations Condemned the Gulf Military Intervention in Bahrain<\/strong> <\/strong>
and the imposition of martial law and resolution of sit-ins and peaceful demonstrations by force
and call for the protection of the Bahraini people<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


The undersigned civil society organizations (107 network, alliance, and organization representing 775 association of 15 Arab countries) condemn the Gulf military intervention, led by Saudi Arabia in Bahrain, and call upon the international community, especially the Security Council and Secretary General of the United Nations, and all organizations, for the rapid intervention to provide protection to the people of Bahrain from the force exercised by the military regime and its Gulf allies against the defenseless people, who call for their legitimate rights in a democratic system that respects dignity and human rights as stipulated in international conventions and laws.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The organizations also express deep concern at the imposition of a state of emergency to intimidate the people of Bahrain, and the use of force by the Bahraini security forces and the armed forces against the peaceful and unarmed protestors and firing live bullets, rubber bullets, and tear gas and fission bullets, in addition to the use of security men in civilian clothes or the secret police (thugs) , which caused a number of martyrs and hundreds of injured people suffocated in the Lulua square, Salmabad, Buri, the Isle Sitra, Sanabis, and others.  The Organizations re-emphasize that these methods, attempted in Tunisia and Egypt, did not discourage people from achieving the greater part of their legitimate demands.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The organizations emphasizes again on how important it is for Bahraini, Arab, and international human rights organizations to document information and certificates to secure enough evidence to hold accountable those responsible for these crimes when it comes to the moment of transitional justice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Organizations wish that the highly ranked officials in Bahrain, so as not to shed more blood, to listen to the legitimate demands of the people in freedom, justice and the devolution of power, expressed clearly and continuously since more than a month by hundreds of thousands of Bahrainis Sunnis and Shiites.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Organizations emphasize again that the use of armed violence and \/ or detention and \/ or suppression of liberties and \/ or discrimination and \/ or intimidation and \/ or sectarian or ethnic discrimination against peaceful popular movements, will not stand in the face of the achievement of the will of the Arab peoples to end the era of predominating power for an indefinite period, perhaps what happened in Tunisia and Egypt, are the best evidence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
