The workshop held in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">Morocco<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">&#8216;s capital city <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">Rabat<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">, saw the participation of regional civil society organizations, democracy advocates, European and North American NGOs, as well as representatives from local governments, and other G8 democracy partners. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p>  <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr; unicode-bidi: embed; text-align: left\"> <span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">The meeting was set to promote productive dialogue between regional CSOs and governments. The workshop gave participants the opportunity to directly open dialogue between high level governmental representatives with regional NGOs operating in those countries. Initially, the workshop focused on the current human rights status in each participating country. Participants of the workshop were given an opportunity to discuss the recent positive and negative developments in regards to the human rights situation in their country. The discussion was then developed based on the updates.<\/span>  <\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr; unicode-bidi: embed; text-align: left\"> <span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">Amman<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">Center<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\"> for Human Rights Studies participated in the workshop held on October 5-6. The International Relations Coordinator, Atef Aresheh attended the conference in representation of ACHRS. Specifically, ACHRS&#8217; representative to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\">Rabat<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma\"> participated in the democracy and fair elections committee in the workshop. The committee discussed and analyzed the democratic situation in the BMENA region as well as ways to help promote and advocate elections.
