{"id":1421,"date":"2018-11-04T10:40:54","date_gmt":"2018-11-04T08:40:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/achrs.org\/english\/2018\/11\/04\/the-relationship-between-religion-and-human-rights\/"},"modified":"2023-03-21T17:03:02","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T14:03:02","slug":"the-relationship-between-religion-and-human-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/achrs.org\/english\/2018\/11\/04\/the-relationship-between-religion-and-human-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"The relationship between religion and human rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">The thirteenth day of the 13<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the program of the Jordanian Institute for Women&#8217;s Leadership was dedicated to the topic of &#8220;The relationship between religion and human rights&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">The training included the explanation of the concept of human rights and its role in society seen as a universal idea, as well as the notion of freedom of belief and freedom of religion as stated in article 18 in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. There was a comparison between the rights contained in international human rights laws and the rights contained in the Islamic religion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Riad Al-Sobh, Director of the Strategic Center for Human Rights Training, was the trainer for this session. He is an expert in human rights and democracy issues. The lecturer reviewed his studies on the compatibility of <em>fatwas<\/em> issued by the Public House of Ifta in Jordan with human rights<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">The Jordanian Institute for Women&#8217;s Leadership program has been implemented by the Center since 2010, and has so far graduated 170 women from Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Palestine.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The thirteenth day of the 13th edition of the program of the Jordanian Institute for Women&#8217;s Leadership was dedicated to the topic of &#8220;The relationship between religion and human rights&#8221;.
