The Jordanian Network for Human Rights (JNHR), a coalition of Jordanian human rights organizations, was established in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The network consists of ten Jordanian human rights organizations: the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS),<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

the Jordanian Society for Human Rights (JSHR), the Arab Women’s Organization (AWO), Sisterhood Is Global Institute (SIGI Jordan), I am a Human Society for Rights of Disabled People, Organization for Social and Economic Empowerment for  Women, Bent Al Badiya for Human Rights, Women Helping Women Network\/Jordan, Amman Forum Society for Human Rights (AFSHR), and Manara Center for Social Justice and Human Rights.<\/span>                 <\/span>The statute of the network stipulates that it is legally independent of its constituent organizations with a common interest and vision in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms, in addition to having a financial benefit independent of its members. The primary scope of the network’s activities is in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, although the network has the potential to support human rights activities in the Arab world and internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n

The mission of the network is to promote collective action in the field of human rights to ensure a common vision and common positions based on the principles of the International Bill of Human and Peoples’ Rights and the human values guaranteeing human rights and freedoms in a cooperative and complementary context between the work of the organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Network seeks to achieve the following objectives:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Promote and develop human rights at the legislative, public policy and practice levels on the basis of respect for and implementation of human rights and fundamental freedoms.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. To promote the culture of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, and the associated codes of conduct at the official and civil levels.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Build the capacity and raise the effectiveness of human rights defenders, especially those working in the network’s member organizations.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Build companies and activate dialogues regarding various human rights issues with government institutions, the public sector and the private sector.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Enhance women’s status and role in society and enhance the respect, protection and realization of their rights.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Increase interest among and advocacy for the rights of the most vulnerable groups (children, the elderly, people with disabilities, inmates of rehabilitation and rehabilitation centers, refugees).<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Raise awareness of labor and social protection issues.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Promote youth participation in public life.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In the course of a month, a series of preparatory meetings was held at the initiative of the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS). The principles, codes of conduct and code of ethics were agreed upon in the framework of the statute that will govern the work of the network and develop its membership and programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Finally, the first General Assembly of the Jordanian Network for Human Rights (JNHR<\/strong>) was held, in which it approved the statutes of the Network and the election of the Steering Committee for 2018\/2019:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Election of Eng. Deeb Ghunma from Bent Al Badiya Society for Human Rights as the President of the network.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Election of Attorney Fatima Dabbas from the Jordanian Society for Human Rights as Vice President.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Election of Dr. Nizam Assaf from Amman Center for Human Rights Studies as the Secretary of the network.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Election of lawyer Christine Fadoul from the Manara Center for Social Justice and Human Rights as a member of the Steering Committee.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Election of Huda al-Zu’bi from the Sisterhood is Global Institute (SIGI Jordan) as a member of the Steering Committee.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
