{"id":1046,"date":"2014-04-17T09:46:36","date_gmt":"2014-04-17T06:46:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/achrs.org\/english\/2014\/04\/17\/achrs-at-the-25th-regular-session-of-the-human-rights-council-in-geneva\/"},"modified":"2023-04-11T12:45:32","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T09:45:32","slug":"achrs-at-the-25th-regular-session-of-the-human-rights-council-in-geneva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/achrs.org\/english\/2014\/04\/17\/achrs-at-the-25th-regular-session-of-the-human-rights-council-in-geneva\/","title":{"rendered":"ACHRS at the 25th regular session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">On last march the 20<sup>th<\/sup>, a delegation of two member representing the ACHRS went to Geneva on the occasion of the 25<sup>th<\/sup> regular session of the UN Human Rights Council, to attend the 40<sup>th<\/sup> meeting for the adoption of the outcome of the UPR of Jordan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> Due to its special consultative status with the UN ECOSOC, the Center had the opportunity to participate in the discussion on Jordan along with other notable organizations which struggle for human rights worldwide, such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. ACHRS was the only Jordanian NGO which took the floor, thus remarking the national human rights situation from a non governmental point of view and making the voice of vulnerable people heard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In fact, even though Jordan accepted 126 out of 173 recommendations and its collaborative attitude had been widely appreciated by States involved in the UPR proceedings, a series of key issues remains still critical and relevant reforms need to be upheld and implemented. Notably the recommendations that the Government rejected are related to the essential respect, protection and implementation of human rights in the Kingdom.
