The Yemen war has been described as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. The Saudi-led coalition alone has killed and injured more than 18 400 civilians. In 2016, the coalition created an investigative mechanism, the Joint Incidents Assessment Team (JIAT), which was tasked with investigating violations of international humanitarian law, including the unlawful bombing of civilian populations and civilian objects.
